Netflix series follows emergency doctors and paramedics in London

A new Netflix documentary series follows emergency doctors and paramedics as they work to save lives in London.

The six-part series called “Critical” will launch on the streaming platform next year.

The film will be shot in London’s major casualty hospitals, emergency services rapid response teams and rescue helicopter crews.

Netflix has promised a comprehensive look into the work of an emergency paramedic in the capital, with the film crew consisting of paramedics, nurses and surgeons.

Viewers can also follow the stories of patients who were brought back from the brink of disaster by the rescuers who provided them with life-saving measures.

The series is produced by The Garden, who recently co-produced Squid Game: The Challenge.

The Garden has extensive experience in the medical genre, having worked on 33 seasons of 24 Hours in A&E and Channel 4’s acclaimed hospital documentary Emergency.

According to Deadline, the action in “Critical” will be recorded with wearable single cameras and bodycams.

“Critical” is directed by Jermaine Blake, who worked on the series “24 Hours in Police Custody” and “Britain’s Busiest Airport: Heathrow” for Channel 4.

Spencer Kelly is the executive producer, while Rebecca Arnold and Louise Bartmann serve as co-executive producers.

Production of the series has already begun and it will launch on Netflix in 2025.

More than 12,000 people are treated by the London Major Trauma System every year.

The network consists of four major trauma centres as well as the London Ambulance Service and two trauma units.

Survival rates increased by 50 percent within five years, saving an estimated 610 lives.
