Two children, ages 10 and 11, charged in connection with the drowning of Noah Bush in Jesup, Georgia

JESUP, Georgia – According to the sheriff’s office, two children have been charged in the fatal drowning of an eight-year-old.

8-year-old Noah Bush was found dead in a drilling pit in Jesup, Georgia, on May 16.

Initially, no foul play was suspected because Bush had no injuries consistent with a fight, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The autopsy revealed that the boy died by drowning. The report confirmed that the boy had no injuries on his body.

However, the sheriff’s office said it had filed charges against two children, ages 10 and 11, based on information it received during its investigation.

“An argument broke out between Noah and the two juveniles involved, and it ended with them pushing Noah into the water and possibly holding his head underwater,” said Francys Johnson, the attorney for Bush’s family.

Both are accused of covering up his death and trespassing.

Due to the age of the perpetrators, their names were not published.

The eleven-year-old was accused of simple assault and manslaughter.

The sheriff’s office said they are waiting for some videos to further their investigation.

“I am grateful for the arrests made today, but we still have a long way to go because until Noah gets justice, there will be no peace,” said Demetrice Bush, the victim’s mother.

The children will be tried as juveniles, the sheriff’s office said.

“This prosecution should move quickly and hopefully bring closure to Noah’s family,” the sheriff said.
