A group of 55 Michigan residents and several keynote speakers will represent the state in Milwaukee this week as the four-day Republican National Convention begins Monday.

Republican U.S. Rep. John James of Shelby Township, who is an automatic delegate to the convention, is scheduled to speak on the first night of the convention on Monday. The convention will end Thursday with former President Donald Trump – who survived an assassination attempt outside Pittsburgh on Saturday – accepting the party’s nomination for the third election cycle and addressing the crowd.

Other speakers at the convention include former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Brighton), whom Trump supported in the August 6 primary for the vacant U.S. Senate seat in Michigan, and businessman Perry Johnson, a former gubernatorial candidate who also briefly ran for the Republican presidential nomination last year.

Also speaking are Benjamin Joseph, a small business owner from Macomb County, and Reverend Lorenzo Sewell, pastor of the 180 Church in Detroit, which hosted a panel discussion with Trump in June. It was not immediately known when the other speakers would be.

Michigan’s delegation to the nominating convention consists of 55 delegates, including State Republican Party Chairman Pete Hoekstra, National Committee members Kathy Berden and Dr. Rob Steele, the six Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives, former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, and others.
