“Fix the Tix” action day triggers 65,000 letters to Congress

Earlier this month, we reported on plans by the US collective Fix the Tix for a “day of action” to push senators to pass the Fans First Act. The day was set for July 9. And how did it go? According to the coalition, it went well.

It was said that more than 65,000 letters and messages were sent to members of Congress and the White House. Among those writing were some famous musicians: Billie Eilish, Graham Nash, Blind Boys of Alabama, Suzanne Vega and others took part.

“This week’s actions send a clear message to Congress that now is the time for comprehensive reform,” said Stephen Parker, executive director of the Independent Venues Association (NIVA), which leads the coalition. “This country needs laws that ban counterfeit tickets, end price gouging and make deceptive marketing tactics illegal.”

In other news, one of the most well-known secondary ticketing platforms, StubHub, is postponing its IPO planned for this summer. CNBC reported that “stagnant market conditions” caused the delay, but the company itself has not commented. Reports this year suggested that StubHub had hoped for a valuation of at least $16.5 billion in its IPO.
