If you don’t know Dr. Becky Kennedy, she’s the brilliant clinical psychologist (and mom of three!) behind parenting company Good Inside. She’s got 2.8 million followers on Instagram, a bestselling book, a potty training product line with Frida Baby, and a wildly popular TedTalk. That’s not all of her accolades, but we’re dying to tell you about the latest accomplishment and title Dr. Becky (as she’s affectionately known on social media) can add to her resume: children’s author! Dr. Becky will soon be releasing her first picture book, and it’s about an incredibly sensitive topic for parents: spanking.

Parents and caregivers whose children have gone through the hitting phase—whether they hit adults, peers, or both—know how difficult it can be to cope. And Dr. Becky wanted to give parents a resource to help them get through a (literally!) difficult time.

“As a clinical psychologist, I know that books can be powerful tools for connection and learning,” she says she knows. “With This is my truck! My goal was to not only create an exciting story, but also an opportunity for networking and skill building for children and parents.”

This is my truck!: A good inside story about hitting

In “That’s My Truck!” Charlie walks into a playroom and sees his little sister Pia, who is not just playing with any old truck, but with his favorite truck. Before he knows it, Charlie is so overwhelmed by his emotions that he hits his sister. What follows is an exciting examination of a common problem for parents of small children and what can be done about it.

Although the book isn’t out until 2025 (but is available for pre-order now, so don’t wait!), Dr. Becky’s advice is constantly available on social media and her website GoodInside.com, where she offers workshops and special membership opportunities.

As many of her sources indicate, much of Dr. Becky’s work revolves around helping children and families feel good on the inside.

“We have to feel good inside before we behave well on the outside,” she said she knows exclusively in February 2023. “I know that’s not grammatically correct, is it? But if our children are miserable, it’s because they have problems.” The reasons why they have problems are unfortunately endless. But sometimes it’s just about favourite truck and don’t know what to do about it. And The Parents can approach this with confidence.
