Famous Group revamps its Vixi Suite

Famous Group’s Vixi Suite is getting an overhaul. The popular mixed reality technology provider unveiled several new features and upgrades to its kit of jumbotron-focused fan engagement tools used in more than 175 venues worldwide last night at the Information Display and Entertainment Association’s (IDEA) annual conference in St. Louis.

Previously, the Vixi Suite consisted of the selfie streaming tool Vixi Live, the photo aggregator Vixi Capture and the single-camera streaming solution Vixi Stream – all of which ingest content (in the case of Live and Capture, content submitted by fans via a QR code) and streamline the ability of video board producers to moderate that content.

The Famous Group has revised these products with the following improvements:

  • Vixi Live: Party Mode, a feature originally from the product, returns, allowing video board moderators to display selfie videos from two to 24 fans at once. Vixi also now allows The Famous Group’s partners to create custom overlays and backgrounds for Jumbotron activations directly within the platform.
  • Vixi Capture: A new generative, artificial intelligence-based feature called Groov turns fan-submitted selfies into singing videos. The facial recognition capabilities and rendering times of Vixi Capture’s existing AI Photo Magic feature have been improved. The Famous Group will also officially add features to Vixi Capture that allow fans to submit text messages for review on the video board, insert their selfies into custom cutout overlays, and see their images displayed in a dynamic mosaic layout.
  • Vixi Stream: Now allows switching between four different camera angles.

New to the Vixi platform are features called “Vixi Reels,” which aggregates fan-submitted video clips for display on video boards at the venue, and “Vixi Home,” which allows fans to stream themselves to the big screen from home (via a QR code displayed during the broadcast).

“Many of the changes we are making are designed to both provide a great fan experience and give (venue) producers more options in what they can do – but also make it easier to use,” said Matthew MarcusEVP/Proprietary Technologies at Famous Group. “(Producers) know what fans want and what makes their lives easier. We want to consistently adapt this platform to the feedback we get from them.”

An example of these insights: The Cavaliers once asked The Famous Group to include fans’ seat numbers as an input field option for user registration so the team could display AI-generated illustrations of fans on the video wall alongside a live view of fans in their seats. This is now a permanent feature in Vixi Capture.

“The Cavaliers have been smart about production,” Marcus said. “We give the men and women in the control rooms tools to be creative with, and they do such great things with them. We can’t wait to see what they’ll do with all the new stuff we’re giving them.”

Marcus, CJ Davis (Chief Technology Officer) and Jon Slusser (Co-Founder and Managing Partner) were 2023 SBJ Power Players in Fan Experience Technology on behalf of The Famous Group, which was also one of SBJ’s 10 Most Innovative Sports Technology Companies in 2022.
