A woman’s brilliant song is a call to science to actually investigate the dynamics of the female body

A woman’s brilliant song is a call to science to actually investigate the dynamics of the female body

The female body is more complex than the male. Additional functions such as menstruation and pregnancy make it even more complex. However, the complexities are not taught in a very practical way. Although schools and colleges teach about the female body, they only cover the basics. Many physical changes and experiences are for women to discover for themselves. To bring this reality to light, artist Farideh – who goes by @ilovefarideh on Instagram – has composed a brilliant song titled “The Female Body.”

The parody was meant to express the need to get to know a woman’s body and her needs. Although Farideh was completely freaking out and dancing impulsively in the video, the lyrics were worth considering. “Morning sickness, endometriosis, menopause, migraines, PCOS. What’s happening to your body? We don’t know because we’ve never studied the female body,” the woman blurted out. She cleverly highlighted how many symptoms of women’s issues are dismissed with the statement “It’s in your head,” when in reality, we don’t understand why they occur.

Women suffer from numerous problems from a young age, yet they are often ignored by family members, fellow women and even doctors. Farideh points this out in the following verses of her song. “We go to the doctor only to be turned away. Try to lose weight but you are only worried,” she pointed out all the senseless answers women receive. Furthermore, the woman exclaimed, “I am not mad, just wait 10 years for a diagnosis.” Mentioning numerous ailments women face that no one has ever heard of was a call loud enough to spark more interest in exploring the female body.

Farideh was on a roll when she pointed out that being “psychosomatic,” “dramatic,” and “hormonal and unpredictable” are the only labels women get when they talk about their problems. She went on to add to the list of problems women face. “Heart disease, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety. Are you in pain? No, you’re not because we don’t study the female body,” she exclaimed. The fact that there is so much going on with the female body that you can list it and rhyme it into a song is mind boggling.

Towards the end of her song, after repeatedly stressing that “we’ve never really explored the female body,” Farideh had a remarkable ending. With a male voice at the end, the lyrics ironically read, “It’s just like a man’s body with boobs, right?” This stereotypical lie is what has caused ignorance about exploring a woman’s dynamic body. “Who knew women’s health could be so hard!” she wrote in her caption. Several women were relieved that someone was finally paying attention to their long-awaited concern. Many felt heard and could identify with the words of Farideh’s song. @brittanyfurlan said, “I’m sending this to my doctor.”

@cenzmaite sarcastically said, “It’s better to gaslight than to continue studying.” @cami.perezlujan wrote, “As a PhD student just starting to study the female body, I agree. It amazes me every day.” @kittenxlady added, “Painfully accurate.” @keanuwingchick exclaimed, “She came out with a bang and bars for the complete failure of the medical community. Not a single lie told!”
