Storms cause power outages and damage in Central Michigan

LANSING, Michigan (WLNS)– The Board of Water and Light is currently reporting power outages throughout Lansing.

The outage map shows that over 1,900 customers are affected by power outages. The website estimates that power should be restored around 5:35 a.m.


Consumers Energy reports that more than 7,822 customers northeast of Lansing, near Lainsgburg, are experiencing power outages.

The storms also caused flooding and damage throughout Central Michigan. A tree fell on several power lines and a vehicle in the 200 block of Rita St. and Jewell Ave.

6 News had a crew on scene as firefighters advised people to avoid the area after seeing sparks coming from the lines.

The 6 News team then went to the 2500 block of Lake Lansing Road, where a tree had fallen and broken through the wall of an apartment complex.
