Google will unveil the Pixel 9 series smartphones at the Made by Google event scheduled for August 13. While the company has not revealed any details about the smartphones, the prices of the upcoming Pixel 9 devices have reportedly surfaced online. According to a report by GSMArena, the series will consist of four models: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, with the standard model for the 128GB storage variant costing €899 in Europe.

Pixel 9 series: What to expect

Unlike previous years, Google may unveil more than two smartphones in the Pixel 9 series this year. In addition to the standard Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold phones may join the series. According to news reports, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will likely have the same-sized displays, but the XL model will have a larger screen. Google is also expected to add the book-style foldable smartphone Pixel Fold to the flagship lineup and rename it Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The Pixel 9 series smartphones are expected to feature a major design redesign. As per the preview shown by Google in a teaser video, the Pixel 9 is likely to feature a flat bezel design and an island-style floating camera module that will be separated from the bezel, unlike the camera visor design of the Pixel 8 series.

The Google Pixel 9 series is also expected to introduce three new AI features exclusive to Pixel smartphones, including an “Add Me” feature that is likely a more sophisticated version of the Best Take feature. The smartphones will also get a new “Studio” app or service, which could be an all-in-one AI image generator and editor, similar to Apple’s recently announced Image Playground. The highlight, however, is likely to be the new “Pixel Screenshots” feature. This feature is intended to offer a concise timeline like Microsoft’s Recall, but will only include the screenshots that the user takes and allows the feature to be used.
