Death of Shannen Doherty: Actors from “Charmed” and “Beverly Hills, 90210” pay tribute

Shannen Doherty’s Beverly Hills, 90210 And Charmed Co-stars, including Alyssa Milano, paid tribute to the actor.

Doherty died of breast cancer on Saturday (July 13) at the age of 53, nine years after being diagnosed with the disease. The actress went into remission in 2017, but in February 2020 she confirmed that the cancer had returned at stage four and then spread to her brain and bones.

The entertainment industry is sending its condolences to Doherty after her publicist Leslie Sloane announced the news of her death. She said: “The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog Bowie. The family requests privacy at this time so she can grieve in peace.”

Among those paying tribute to the star was Milano, with whom Doherty had a public feud. Milano, who played Phoebe Halliwell, said in a statement shared with diversity: “It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at the core, this was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of.

“She was a talented actress, loved by many and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her.”

Other Charmed Co-stars paying tribute include Ted King, who played Andy Trudeau, and Ted Krause, who played Leo Wyatt.

“We created a special television couple for the ages. My heart goes out to your family. Rest in peace Shannen, rest in peace,” King wrote, while Wyatt posted, “You showed me strength. You taught me to be fearless and to live with purpose. To know your own worth and to stick to your resolve. Forever loved! Truly heartbroken.”

Meanwhile, Dorian Gregory, who played Darryl Morris, praised Doherty as a “strong, amazing, incredible woman” and wrote: “Shannen… when words are worthless, you don’t use them. With admiration and love for your strength, kindness and beauty, but with a heavy heart, there are no words to use…”

Beverly Hills, 90210 The stars also paid tribute to Doherty. Jason Priestly, who played her on-screen brother Brandon Walsh, wrote: “I am shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Shannen. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family during this dark time.”

David Silver Brian Austin Green, who Doherty briefly dated after she left the show in 1994, added: “Shan. My sister… You loved me through everything. You were a big part of my understanding of love. I will miss you more than I can handle right now. Thank you for the gift that you are.”

Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor, wrote: “I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my longtime friend Shannen, the woman I often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known.

“Our connection was real and honest. We were pitted against each other so many times, but none of it reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was based on mutual respect and admiration.

“She was brave, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie.”

Donna Martin actress Tori Spelling and Andrea Zuckerman star Gabrielle Carteris also paid tribute, with Spelling writing, “I don’t have the words for it yet… but WE knew and that’s what matters.”

Carteris, meanwhile, referred to the death of her co-star Luke Perry in 2019, writing: “So young – so sad. May you rest in peace Shannon. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you.”
