Google Pixel 9: What to expect, release date and more

Right off the bat, it’s clear that Google has brought forward its Pixel phone launch cycle, moving all launches to August – the same period that the Pixel Fold launched last year. That means all of its major flagships will launch in the same month this year. This should reduce the pre-release leaks that have plagued Google in recent years, but so far several details have already made it online, including alleged footage of the Pixel 9 in pink.

The Pixel 9 series is expected to feature the Tensor G4, Google’s own custom silicon, which will be the fourth iteration. There could be several new models this year: In addition to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, there could be the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel Fold 2 is expected to be called the Pixel 9 Fold.

In addition to the Pixel 9 models, Google will also launch new wearables with the Pixel Watch 3 and the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

This means that the Made by Google event for the devices is expected to go live on August 13 at 10:30 a.m. PT. Further details should be announced then.
