The German national team lost in dramatic fashion to a very good team from Spain in the quarter-finals of the 2024 European Championship, but the overall experience gave a lot to process.

Here’s what we have planned for Episode 1 of this mini-series, where we look at the team’s progress under head coach Julian Nagelsmann:

• It is important to remember that this idea represented progress.
• The key was to build a connection with the players and the team responded to the coaching staff’s instructions.
• There was a real sense of unity and team spirit within the team.
• Nagelsmann still tinkers too much, is too loyal to certain players and cannot help but complicate things unnecessarily.
• Nagelsmann must manage the generational change very carefully.
• Overall, Germany is on the right track.
