Import value fell by 4.89 percent by June 2024

JAKARTA – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) found that the value of Indonesian imports reached US$18.45 billion in June 2024, down 4.89 percent from May 2024, when it reached US$19.40 billion.

BPS Acting (Plt) Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said the value of oil and gas imports in June 2024 was $3.37 billion, up 19.01 percent from May 2024’s 2.75 percent.

The value of non-oil and gas imports is $15.18 billion in June 2024, a decrease of 8.83 percent from May 2024’s $16.65 billion.

“The decline in monthly imports was mainly due to a decline in the value of non-oil and gas imports, which increased by 7.58 percent,” he said at a press conference on Monday, July 15.

On an annual basis, the import value in June 2024 was $18.45 billion, an increase of 7.58 percent over the same period last year when it was $17.15 billion.

Amalia said that the value of oil and gas imports in June 2024 increased by 47.17 percent and 1.69 percent year-on-year, respectively.

“The increase in oil and gas imports, which is quite high on an annual basis, is due to an increase in the import value of crude oil and the import value of oil products,” he said.
