Jennie Garth remembers Shannen Doherty after the actress’ death

Jennie Garth was one of Shannen Doherty’s many former co-stars who paid tribute to the actress on Sunday after news of her death broke.

Garth posted a photo of the two of them years ago. It looks like it was probably taken when the two were together in Beverly Hills, 90210, in the 1990s or thereabouts.

Garth captioned the photo: “I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long-time friend Shannen, the woman I often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known. Our connection was real and honest.”

Garth also alluded to reports of tensions on set between her and Doherty, which she had also openly discussed in the past, admitting in 2019, See what’s happening live with Andy Cohen that they once had a big argument where they “took it outside” over something “so stupid.” But it never came to a physical altercation, and the two made up and remained friends.

“We were pitted against each other so many times, but none of it reflected the truth of our true relationship, which was based on mutual respect and admiration,” Garth wrote. “She was brave, passionate, determined, and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie and all the people who loved her. 💔”

The last sentence referred to Doherty’s dog Bowie, who was among those who accompanied the actress at her death.

Doherty died on Saturday at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer.

Other former co-stars who paid tribute to Doherty included Jason Priestley, Gabrielle Carteris, Carol Potter and Brian Austin Green (all Beverly Hills, 90210) and Alyssa Milano (Charmed).
