Shaboozey makes history again with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and secures the number 1 spot on the Hot 100 of the Billboard charts

Shaboozey, who appears on Beyoncé’s latest album “Cowboy Carter,” has reached another milestone in his meteoric career.

The Nigerian-American singer-songwriter became the first black male artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously with “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” According to Billboard, the Virginia native is the second black artist to ever top both charts. Beyoncé was the first to accomplish this feat with her single “Texas Hold ‘Em.”

The 29-year-old’s huge hit is also the first single in history to make it into the top 10 of the Country, Pop, Adult Pop and Rhythmic Airplay charts.

Earlier this year, Shaboozey replaced Beyoncé at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country chart, marking the first time in history that two black artists have topped the charts consecutively.

Shazboozey was featured on “Spaghettii” and “Sweet Honey Buckin'” from Beyoncé’s highly anticipated eighth studio album. His single “Tipsy” is taken from his latest project, “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going,” an album that debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in June, according to Billboard.

The rising country star has worked hard for years and his recent successes have catapulted him to superstar status.

Most recently, Shaboozey rocked the stage at the 2024 BET Awards in Los Angeles with his “’Tipsy,” which interpolates J-Kwon’s throwback rap song “Tipsy.”

Although country music is not traditionally a focus at awards shows like BET, Shaboozey thrilled fans and attendees when he brought the rapper on stage for an unforgettable performance.

And it seems Shaboozey is gaining widespread recognition throughout the industry. Over the Fourth of July weekend, he was one of the attendees at Michael Rubin’s all-white party.

With a sold-out tour coming up, the country star has a lot to look forward to.
