Jake Gyllenhaal’s “Presumed Innocent” renewed for second season on Apple TV+

Following its highly acclaimed premiere last month, which featured a gripping performance from Oscar-nominated star and executive producer Jake Gyllenhaal, Apple TV+ has announced that the global hit series “Presumed Innocent” will return for a second season that will revolve around a thrilling, brand new case.

Multiple Emmy Award winners David E. Kelley and JJ Abrams, Gyllenhaal, Rachel Rusch Rich, Dustin Thomason and Matthew Tinker will once again serve as executive producers, and writer Scott Turow will serve as co-executive producer.

Presumed Innocent is an eight-episode limited miniseries starring and executive produced by Jake Gyllenhaal, with David E. Kelley serving as executive producer and JJ Abrams serving as producer. The series is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow.

Starring Gyllenhaal in the lead role of Assistant Attorney General Rusty Sabich, the series takes viewers on a gripping journey through the gruesome murder that sends the Chicago District Attorney’s office into turmoil when one of their own is suspected of the crime.

The series explores obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love as the accused struggles to keep his family and marriage together. The thriller’s star cast also includes Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Peter Sarsgaard, OT Fagbenle and Renate Reinsve.

The first season of “Presumed Innocent” is now streaming on Apple TV+.
