Melania Trump speaks after shooting at rally: Where is Melania Trump?

(WJW) – She was not at the rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, but Melania Trump felt the effects of the assassination attempt on her husband, which left one participant and the shooter dead.

On Sunday, Melania released a statement about the incident, expressing her condolences to the families of those injured in the crowd and the bystander who was killed.

“As I watched the massive bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized that my life and Barron’s life were on the brink of devastating change,” the former first lady said in the statement.

“A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine tried to bring out Donald’s passion – his laughter, his ingenuity, his love of music and his inspiration,” she wrote. “The core aspects of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried beneath the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man I was with through the best of times and the worst.”

Melania, who has largely kept a low profile during Trump’s recent campaign, implored Americans not to let politics get in the way of their humanity.

“Let us not forget that differences of opinion, different policies and political games are inferior to love,” she said.

“We all want a world where respect comes first, family comes first and love comes first. We can make that world happen again. Each of us must demand to get it back. We must insist that respect be the cornerstone of our relationships again,” she added.

After receiving treatment, former President Donald Trump is preparing to travel to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. The man suspected of opening fire on the crowd in Butler is a 20-year-old from Pennsylvania, officials said.
