Country singer Thomas Rhett: “I love being a father so much”

By Movieguide® Contributor

Country singer Thomas Rhett loves being a father “so much.”

“This one came home to me!!,” he captioned a recent photo of him and his daughters celebrating Father’s Day. “I love being a dad so much. Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads out there who make it happen.”

Rhett and his wife Lauren have four daughters together: Willa Gray, 8, Ada James, 6, Lennon Love, 4, and Lillie Carolina, 2.

Appearing on THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW, the singer described his girls as “the light of my world,” adding, “I carry a camera everywhere I go – a big camera – and try to capture all of these moments and really enjoy life as a father.”

“I just love spending time alone with each of them, which I didn’t really think was important before,” Rhett told People. “But I think the longer I’m a dad, the more each child needs that alone time – just like Lauren and I just need time together.”

He said that he spends his time with his daughters, among other things, making music together.

“They all love music and they all like to go up there individually. I’ll just get a guitar and they’ll bang around on the piano, or I’ll get out my Pro Tools gear and put some drum beats on it. And then they’ll just sit up here and play,” Rhett said.

Movieguide® previously reported on the Rhetts’ decision to adopt their eldest daughter Willa:

In Kevin Bacon’s podcast, country singer Thomas Rhett told the story of how he came to adopt his eldest daughter, Willa Gray.

“I always thought my wife was the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen in my life, but this picture had something about her, she was glowing, man,” said Rhett told Bacon describes a picture his wife sent him from an orphanage in Uganda, showing a baby being held in her arms.

“And that was the case with this baby, who I had never met before. I remember talking to my wife on FaceTime that night and asking, ‘Who was that baby you were holding?’ And she said, ‘That’s Blessing, and there are no living parents or residents, so she has no family,'” Rhett continued.

“She’s in this children’s home now and her name is Willa Gray, but in the orphanage her name was Blessing. And she was there for about a week. She was 6 weeks old,” he added.

Rhett’s heart was so filled with love for the baby that before he even knew what he was saying, he suggested to his wife that they take the baby home.

“My wife said to me, ‘We need to find a home for this child.’ And I’ll never forget that, dude. It was 2 a.m., I was half asleep, and I just blurted out, ‘We’re bringing her home,'” he recalls.
