Eurovision 2024: Line-up, order, song list and countries for the 1st semi-final

The first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 begins on Tuesday evening. Singers from 15 nations will take to the stage hoping to qualify for the grand final this weekend.

This year the competition will take place in Malmö, Sweden, after singer-songwriter Loren won the 2023 competition with her song Tattoo. Last year’s competition was held in Liverpool on behalf of the previous year’s winners from Ukraine.

This year, a change has been made to the semi-finals and singers from the ‘Big Five’ (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Great Britain) as well as host country Sweden – who automatically qualifies for the final – will also perform.

The second semi-final, involving 16 nations, will take place on Thursday evening. The 10 countries with the highest scores in each semi-final following a public vote will qualify for the final on Saturday, alongside Sweden and the big five.

Christer Björkman, producer of the Eurovision contest, said: “It’s a very good year. It’s playful and full of energy and it’s great fun to work. In addition, all the participating countries have great ideas, which is extremely inspiring for us on the contest team.”

“We are also so excited that the Big Five and Sweden can now show their full potential in the semi-finals. They are fully integrated into the shows, which gives them the chance to develop until the grand finale.”

The first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 8pm. The second semi-final will take place on Thursday and will also be broadcast live on the BBC at the same time.

The grand finale will take place on Saturday, May 11th, at 8 p.m.
