Jones, a standout Pro Bowler selected in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft, showcased his athletic prowess with the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens, with whom he won the 2013 Super Bowl, released a statement on social media hours after his death.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jacoby Jones,” the team said. “Jacoby had a unique ability to connect with everyone he encountered. His charisma, joy and love created a one-of-a-kind presence that could light up any room or brighten any dark day. Jacoby will long be remembered not only for his success on the football field, but for the lasting personal connections he made with countless people in the Ravens organization, the Baltimore community and every area he called home. We extend our deepest condolences to Jacoby’s family as we all begin to process this devastating loss.”
After his Super Bowl victory, Jones participated in the 16th season of Dancing with the starsand finished in third place alongside pro Karina Smirnoff.

He was a man of faith,” the Ravens head coach said in a statement Sunday. “My favorite play in football was when Jacoby was talking to his mother in the end zone just before a kickoff return against the Vikings in a blizzard shootout. Jacoby then ran to catch the ball and run it back for a touchdown.”
He concluded by saying, “My favorite personal Jacoby moment was every time I saw his smiling face full of joy. Rest in peace, Jacoby, in the arms of Jesus.”
