Hellas Verona hopes for a bidding war for the coveted titles Inter Milan, Juventus and Lazio

Hellas Verona hopes that interest from Inter Milan, Juventus and Lazio can trigger a bidding war for defender Juan Cabal.

This is revealed in today’s print edition of the Verona-based newspaper L’Arena via FCInterNews.

Cabal has become a hot name in the Serie A transfer market in recent days.

The biggest interest in signing the Colombian seems to be Inter.

The Nerazzurri see Cabal as a strong candidate to strengthen their defensive options.

The reason for this is the injury to full-back Tajon Buchanan. The Canadian international will miss the first few months of next season.

And with Buchanan out, Inter have no plans to sign a direct replacement.

Rather, the Nerazzurri will change the team a little. Carlos Augusto – who played many minutes on the left side of the back three last season – will play mostly or exclusively as a full-back.

Inter’s original plan was to use the versatile Brazilian partly as a defender.

But Augusto will be busy on the wing, so the Nerazzurri will sign a left-back instead.

Inter have identified Cabal as the ideal profile for the left defensive line of their three-man chain.

The Colombian can play as either a left-back or a centre-back. In theory, he would be a very suitable option for a three-man defense.

Inter has already contacted representatives of Cabal.

And the Nerazzurri hope to be able to speed up the talks with Verona soon.

Inter want to conclude a deal – probably a loan with an option or obligation to buy – based on a transfer fee of around 8 million euros plus 2 million euros in additional payments, reports L’Arena.

But Inter is not the only team interested in signing Cabal.

Juventus are also considering competing with the Nerazzurri for the Colombian’s signature.

And Lazio could aim to reunite Cabal with former Gialloblu coach Marco Baroni.

According to L’Arena, Verona are still hoping they can get more for Cabal due to the competition for his signature.
