Raving about his new song with girlfriend Jennifer Hudson

Common seems to be happy with his girlfriend Jennifer Hudson both personally and professionally.

The 52-year-old rapper and actor released his new album with producer Pete Rock The Auditorium Vol. 1 on Friday.

“I loved it because when I played it for my musician friends, they always asked, ‘Who’s singing?'” he says.

“I thought to myself, ‘That’s Jennifer!’ That doesn’t sound like things you’ve heard from her before. I think it’s great that we were able to use her gifts in a new area. She’s done it, man,” said Commons Peopleas well as.

He also revealed that it was her special connection with Aretha Franklin that was the deciding factor for her to land the contract.

“I told (Jennifer) who it was and then we discussed it,” he recalls. “I was like, you know how a light goes on? The light went out. ‘Wait, this song makes me feel like Aretha. Jennifer played Aretha (in 2021’s ‘Respect’). Jennifer, why don’t you sing along?’ She was like, ‘Oh man, I’d love to sing along.’ She was so excited.”

The couple recently confirmed their romance on The Jennifer Hudson Show in January after remaining silent since first linking up in 2022.
