AEW star Chris Jericho explains why he has no plans to retire anytime soon

Despite pleas from the more vocal AEW fans to hang up his boots, Chris Jericho has no plans to retire just yet. Speaking to McGuire on Wrestling, The Ocho revealed that he is having too much fun at the moment and still feels like he has a lot to offer the company.

“I’ll know when the time comes. I’m having a lot of fun and I’m still contributing. I can still deliver top matches on any given night – not all the time, but often enough. I love what we’re doing with AEW right now, so there’s no rush to retire. When the time comes, I’ll know. As long as I’m having fun and feeling good in and out of the ring, there’s no reason to stop right now.”

Jericho has previously expressed his thoughts on retirement, noting that AEW has rekindled his love for wrestling and that he is not ready to say goodbye yet. The former AEW World Champion does not have a timeline in mind for his retirement, stating that it could happen either tomorrow, in 10 years, or anytime in between. For now, though, fans will just have to get used to “The Learning Tree” imparting more of his wisdom to the roster. Additionally, Jericho is planning his final match against Lance Storm, who is currently a producer for TNA Wrestling, and that could be a while off.

As it stands, Jericho believes he’s doing the best work of his career in his current incarnation. His gimmick plays into some of the biggest criticisms leveled at him in recent years, but it seems the AEW star is taking the negative feedback with a pinch of salt.
