Katy Perry is mocked by her fans for using the WRONG flag while wishing the England football team luck before the Euro final against Spain

Fans of Katy Perry had to correct the singer after she shared a message wishing the English football team good luck for the Euro 2024 final on Sunday.

The singer seemed excited about the highly anticipated match between England and Spain, which kicks off at 8 p.m. in Berlin.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), the Roar singer wrote “Football is coming home” and mentioned the flag of the United Kingdom behind it.

However, fans were quick to criticise Katy for using the wrong flag and corrected her by commenting that it was the English flag, a red cross on a white background.

“This is the flag: (England flag). You’re welcome.”

“Thank you sister, try to use the right flag next time.”

England go into the match as underdogs, as Spain have won all six of their matches so far and the Three Lions have drawn four times in 90 minutes.

Gareth delivered an emotional message to his English heroes before their rendezvous with destiny: “Go and fulfil your dreams.”

After a turbulent tournament, the national team will face Spain in the final of the 2024 European Championship on Sunday evening and Southgate said: “I don’t believe in fairy tales, but I believe in dreams and we have big dreams, but you have to make those things come true.”

“Our run, the late goals, the penalties, but that doesn’t mean we’ll make it. We have to perform.”

“If you want to create dreams, you need a vision. That lights a little fire. We know what it would mean (to win).”

The England men’s team have not won a major trophy since the 1966 World Cup and Southgate added: “We have to win this title to win the respect of the rest of the football world.”

“I went to World Cups and European Championships as an observer (before I became England manager) and we weren’t in the summaries on the big screens before the games. They only showed the finals and the big games.”

“We had high expectations, but they did not match our performance. Now we have achieved it.”

“Tomorrow I’m not afraid of what might happen because I’ve been through everything. I want my players to feel that fearlessness… If we’re not afraid of losing, we have a better chance of winning.”

The three will be playing in their second consecutive European Championship final after their defeat against Italy at Wembley in 2021.

The team lost on home soil in a penalty shootout and this evening will be remembered for a long time by those involved.

“I think it shows first and foremost incredible consistency,” said captain Harry Kane on Saturday night. “Many of us were obviously heartbroken about the result after that final because, as always, it’s been a long road back to get to where we are now.”

“The boys deserve all the credit for the resilience we showed. That speaks volumes about the mentality of the team. We are over the moon to be in this situation and to be in a European final again. Of course, we are keen to go one step further than last time.”

Gareth Southgate sent an emotional message to his English players ahead of Sunday’s final

The Three Lions head coach urged his players to achieve their dreams and win the team’s first major trophy since 1966.
Kane said much of the England team was “heartbroken” after losing on penalties in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley

England go into the match as underdogs, as Spain have won all six of their matches so far and the Three Lions have drawn four times in 90 minutes.

However, Southgate was not bothered by this and is happy that his planning has paid off so far.

He added: “We didn’t have much time on the training pitch, but we met several times to assess the opponent and find the best way to play against them.”

“But our messages haven’t really changed in the six or seven weeks we’ve been together. We had a long-term vision and always broke it down into smaller parts.”
