José Iglesias will sing the hit “OMG” at the All-Star Game

There will be a lot of fun happening during MLB All-Star Week.

There’s the Home Run Derby, where we watch baseball’s best hitters throw atomic bombs for hours at a time (who wouldn’t want to see that?).

And then there is the Pittsburgh Pirates’ rookie sensation Paul Skeneswho will be playing in the National League All-Star Game. If you’re not excited by the way this guy makes the best hitters in the American League look utterly ridiculous, you’re a liar.

But now fans can expect an additional surprise: José Iglesias, the shortstop of the New York Mets.

The 34-year-old has had a phenomenal first half of the season (.347 AVG, .940 OPS). Despite this, he will not play alongside teammate Pete Alonso in the All-Star Game. Instead, he will sing his hit “OMG,” which has already reached the top of the Billboard Charts this year.

“I’ll be in Texas,” Iglesias said today. “I’ve had the privilege of being part of some All-Stars as a player and now as a singer. I’m very proud of that. Thank you for the invitation. I’ll be heading there after the game.”

Here’s Iglesias’ stage performance last month at Citi Field.

It is not entirely clear when exactly he will sing the song. What we do know is that the Home Run Derby is tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. EST and the All-Star Game is on Tuesday at the same time, meaning his appearance will take place on one of those days.
