Skybound and Hasbro are giving GI Joe fans a unique opportunity to appear in new editions of the upcoming series.

Although it is not yet confirmed, many fans are firmly convinced that alleged actor Chris Hemsworth will play Conrad Hauser, aka Duke.. The character made her debut in the relaunch of the GI Joe – The Movie Franchise, GI Joe: A real American heroand was treated as the team’s field commander. This varied slightly depending on the continuity, with Generation 1 Transformers Cartoon and the GI Joe: A real American hero Animated series occupy a different timeline than their comic book counterparts.

Duke was a first sergeant in the squad who was always the first to rush into battle. He was the epitome of the heroism that GI Joe was supposed to embody. Duke was the main GI Joe – The Movie Character in the upcoming Transformers/G.I. Joe Film makes sense, as he is meant to be the brand’s version of Optimus Prime. He was the first “Joe” to receive a solo title in Skybound Entertainment’s Energon Universe comics. Likewise, all GI Joe – The Movie Reboots since the late 1990s have featured Duke in such a role, so getting him right is tantamount to doing the same for the rest of the franchise. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done when you look at the past films.

The GI Joe reboot must avoid this “X-Men movie” problem

There are a lot of mistakes to correct in a GI Joe reboot movie, and one of them focuses on the franchise’s most popular hero, who has become “Wolverine.”

Although Duke might be a fan favorite among GI Joe – The Movie fans, this was not implemented in the same way he was received in his previous film incarnations. The version of Duke that Channing Tatum played in the previous live-action GI Joe – The Movie Movies were not well received, and the same was true for the rest of those films. Even Tatum himself hated the film and the impact its poor reception had on his career, to the point where he chose to be killed off in the second film. Both films lacked Duke’s heroism and awe-inspiring nature. Nor did he come across as the decorated and intelligent soldier that the character was in the cartoons and comics of the classic era. A major misstep was made in these GI Joe – The Movie Films that can also have an impact on the brand as a whole.

Duke was too much of an ordinary soldier, lacking everything that really gave fans the character they knew and loved.. The other changes to the source material didn’t help, and the less said about the controversial “accelerator suits” of the first film, the better. Even the classic GI Joe – The Movie did him dirty, with Duke barely present before he was taken out by a villain from Cobra-La with a spear. This act put him in a temporary coma, but the plan was to kill him. It was only the altercation caused by the death of Optimus Prime in Transformers: The Movie that stopped that plan, but the big screen was not kind to him. By balancing that with a better portrayal in the upcoming Transformers/G.I. Joe film, Paramount can change things for Duke and his potential actor.

Hemsworth could also achieve success outside the MCU

Furiosa celebrates success as VOD after disappointing theatrical release

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” by George Miller, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, tops the VOD charts after a disappointing box office success.

Chris Hemsworth is best known for his role as Thor Odinson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it is this role that has made him a household name. He is the only original Avenger from the MCU who is still around and getting solo movies, although it is unknown how much longer he will remain in the shared cinematic universe. At the same time, Hemsworth has not been very successful outside of the MCU, with most of his other projects – even those that were well received – failing to perform at the box office. A recent example of this is the performance of Furiosa: A Mad Max Sagathe latest entry in the post-apocalyptic action series.

Furious was released several years later Mad Max: Fury Road (the film it was supposed to be a prequel to), which probably didn’t help its box office fortunes. Despite this seeming lack of interest, it was praised by fans and critics, with Hemsworth’s performance as Dementus actually being one of the more popular parts of the box office flop. Still, it just joins the list of films outside of the MCU that weren’t hits for Hemsworth. His only other real success is the extraction Series on Netflix that could serve as the basis for his portrayal of DukeIf the Transformers/G.I. Joe The film is successful, it can finally offer him a new opportunity to succeed that is not tied to Marvel.

Before there is a Transformers and GI Joe crossover, both franchises desperately need this

Paramount is planning a crossover between “Transformers” and “GI Joe,” but both franchises need a fresh start and successful films first.

Casting Chris Hemsworth as Duke would be a huge boon for Paramount’s likely reboot of the GI Joe – The Movie Film franchise. While Hemsworth may not be as well known outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is still an established name that will bring a certain amount of attention to the role. That will definitely help if the film and Hemsworth’s interpretation of Duke are both really good. As things stand, GI Joe – The Movie is a name that is either tarnished in the eyes of moviegoers or irrelevant to other consumers. It has definitely had success in the recent comics of the Energon universe and in the GI Joe: Secret Toyline, but even those victories only mean so much in the grand scheme of things.

More than anything else, the GI Joe – The Movie A brand needs characters and concepts that are considered cool in a way that they haven’t been in years. Influences can be drawn from the MCU version of Captain America, who Duke could be very similar to. If Duke really does interact with the likes of Optimus Prime, he needs to be someone that this Autobot leader respects and even sees as a moral equal. Most importantly, Duke needs to be the main member of GI Joe and not the martial artist Snake Eyes, as previous films have focused too much on the “ninja” aspects of the franchise instead of the true main characters. If Hemsworth really is Duke, it is unlikely that he plays second fiddle to a character who never speaks. So having the actor shout “Yo Joe!” might be the best thing that could have happened for the Hasbro franchise.
