Famous Hollywood actor delights café in Galway with visit – photo shows star posing with staff

A famous Hollywood actor delighted staff at a Galway cafe with a surprise visit this week.

Irish actor Robert Sheehan brought smiles to staff at the Creamery Café in Salthill on Sunday as he happily posed for a photo while stopping by for an ice cream cone.

Staff shared the moment on social media, saying it was “really great” to have the actor there as he beamed for the photo.

The star of Misfits and Love/Hate is in Galway this week, enjoying the Galway Film Fleadh and International Arts Festival and was seen wandering around the city.

Earlier this week, the star was spotted outside the Town Hall Theatre greeting members of the band Kneecap who attended a screening of their new film of the same name.

Since Sheehan is known for his television roles in popular series such as The Umbrella Academy on Netflix, it is no surprise that he attracted attention.

A series of clips show the actor chatting with fans and festival-goers as he enjoyed his day in the City of Tribes.

The city of Galway received its first and hopefully last visit from an armoured jeep on Tuesday as successful Irish rap trio Kneecap arrived for the Galway Film Fleadh.

The rap group’s performance attracted as much attention as their bombastic lyrics, as they took selfies with local businesses and drew attention to their groundbreaking film, which premiered at the annual event in Galway.

In the film “Kneecap”, which is based on their origin story, band members Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí make their acting debut alongside Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender.

Set in West Belfast in 2019, the film tells the story of how fate brings the trio together and how they subsequently “change the sound of Irish music forever.”

The film was screened at this week’s Fleadh on Tuesday 9 July at 7pm at the Town Hall Theatre to a packed audience including Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí.

Ironically, the balaclava-clad Próvaí was the only identifiable member as the group stood, flares in hand, on an armoured jeep bearing the tricolour, the Palestinian flag and a placard reading “English out of Ireland” in Galway city centre.

The rap group will return to Galway later this month to perform in the big tent at the Galway International Arts Festival on Thursday 18 July.
