Shannen Doherty said in the last podcast episode she posted on Instagram before her death that she was “hopeful” about her chemotherapy.

“I have no idea how long I have to do chemotherapy,” she said on the June 25 episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear.” “I have no idea if it’s going to be, you know, three months or six months. Or, you know … if it doesn’t work after three months, whether we’re going to change it again.”

The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress explained that neither she nor her doctors could have predicted her cancer treatment plans.

“And it’s scary. It’s like a big wake-up call,” she admitted. “At the same time, I have to say there’s something positive. And the positive is that the molecular structure of my cancer cells has recently changed, which means there are a lot more protocols for me to try.”

However, Doherty said she was “hopeful” about the treatments because there are now many more protocols in place.

The “Heathers” actress’ longtime spokesperson, Leslie Sloane, told People in a statement on Sunday that the “Charmed” alumna had sadly passed away. She was 53 years old.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after battling the disease for many years,” she told the outlet.

“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog, Bowie. The family asks for privacy at this time so she can grieve in peace.”

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015. The cancer spread throughout her body after she received the diagnosis late because she sued her former business managers for allegedly mismanaging her money, which resulted in the lapse of her health insurance.

Following news of her death, Doherty’s enemy and former “Charmed” co-star Alyssa Milano released a statement saying the late actress was someone she “deeply respected and was in awe of” despite their “complicated relationship.”

“She was a talented actress, loved by many, and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her,” added Milano, 51.

Doherty’s TV brother Jason Priestley wrote on Instagram that he was “shocked and saddened” to hear of the death of his “friend”.

“She was a force of nature and I will miss her. I send love and light to her family during this dark time,” he added.
