Melania Trump has spoken out after her husband, former President Donald Trump, was shot in the ear in an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Melania Trump has sent a heartfelt message following a shocking assassination attempt on her husband Donald Trump.
Following the horrific incident at a rally on Saturday night, where eyewitnesses saw an armed person aiming at the former president before shots were fired, Melania expressed her deep emotions about the near-tragedy.
The assassin, who was quickly subdued at the scene, reportedly had the former president in his sights with a rifle for “two to three minutes” before firing. Melania, who was deeply affected by the attack, spoke of the possible “devastating change” she experienced when the bullet struck her husband.
Her words were full of concern and a call for unity: “I am thinking of you now, my fellow Americans. We have always been a unique nation. America, the fabric of our gentle nation is torn apart, but our courage and common sense must rise up and bring us back together as one,” reports the Mirror US.
She said of that horrific moment: “When I saw the massive bullet hit my husband, Donald, I realized that my life and Barron’s life were about to undergo a devastating change. I am grateful to the brave Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers who risked their own lives to protect my husband.”
She expressed her deepest condolences to the other victims of the violence: “I humbly express my sincere sympathy to the families of the innocent victims who are now suffering from this heinous act. It saddens me that you have to summon your inner strength for such a terrible reason.”
“A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine tried to bring out Donald’s passion – his laughter, his ingenuity, his love of music and his inspiration. The central facets of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried beneath the political machine.”
“Donald, the generous and caring man I have been with through the best of times and the worst. Let us not forget that disagreements, politics and political games are inferior to love. Our personal, structural and lifelong commitment – until death – is seriously at risk. Political concepts are simple compared to us humans.”
“We are all human and fundamentally and instinctively want to help each other. American policy is just one tool that can strengthen our communities. Love, compassion, kindness and empathy are essential.”
“And let us remember, when the time comes, to look beyond left and right, beyond red and blue. We all come from families that have fought passionately for a better life while we are here on earth. The dawn is here again. Let us come together again. Now.”
“This morning we rise above the hatred, the spite and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence. We all want a world where respect comes first, family comes first and love reigns supreme. We can see the world again. Each of us must demand to get it back. We must insist that respect be the cornerstone of our relationships again. I am thinking of you, my fellow Americans.”
“The winds of change are here. To those of you who are calling out to us in tears of support, I thank you. I commend those of you who are reaching across the political divide – thank you for remembering that every single politician is a man or woman with a loving family.”
The shocking incident occurred as the former president was giving a speech to his supporters at a rally in Pennsylvania when a bullet hit him in the right ear. Just six minutes into his speech in Butler, Trump suddenly stopped speaking, grabbed his face and ran for cover.
The FBI has released images of the suspected shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Crooks, who was identified as a registered Republican and once donated to the Biden campaign, has not been disclosed by authorities as to his motives.
Intensive investigations are currently underway under the direction of the FBI. Among other things, sniffer dogs are being sent to the suspect’s house to search for possible booby traps. The attacker was shot at the scene.
