Thalapathy Vijay to lend his voice to Lokesh Kanagaraj and Karthi’s Kaithi 2; reports

After launching his political party in February this year, Thalapathy Vijay had announced that he would quit acting to focus on his political ambitions. Naturally, this announcement came as a surprise to the fans of the ‘Beast’ actor and also raised a few questions.

One of the most asked questions has been about the actor’s role in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Cinematic Universe (LCU), a connection made with the 2023-released film Leo. However, according to the latest reports, there seems to be an answer to that. According to a report by IndiaGlitz, while Thalapathy Vijay’s appearance in Kaithi 2, the next film in the LCU, is not confirmed, it is likely that the actor will lend his voice to the film.

In an interview earlier this year, Lokesh Kanagaraj mentioned that Kaithi 2 will feature all the characters from the LCU so far. This means that the film will feature Kamal Haasan as Vikram, Karthi as Dilli, Suriya as Rolex and even Thalapathy Vijay in the role of Leo/Parthiban.

However, according to the report by IndiaGlitz, the Mersal actor will not physically appear in the film but will only do a speaking role. It is also reported that the film is likely to hit the theatres by the end of next year.

What we know about LCU so far

As mentioned earlier, the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, or LCU, is the brainchild of ace director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The universe currently comprises three films: the 2019 film Kaithi (starring Karthi), Vikram (starring Kamal Haasan) and Leo (starring Thalapathy Vijay).

Moreover, it features a star cast including Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha Krishnan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Arjun Das, Suriya and many more in important roles. Talking about the LCU, Lokesh Kanagaraj has mentioned that the universe will have more films starting with Kaithi 2 and Vikram 2 and there will also be a standalone film on Suriya’s character Rolex. However, only time will tell which direction the Maanagaram director will take the universe.

Thalapathy Vijay on the work front

Thalapathy Vijay is currently working on his next film titled The Greatest of All Time, which is directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film marks the first collaboration between the two and features a star cast including Prabhu Deva, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jayaram, Mic Mohan and many others in important roles.

The film, which is touted as a sci-fi actioner, is scheduled to hit the theatres on September 5. The music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Siddhartha Nuni is handling the camera and Venkat Raajen is handling the editing. The Greatest of All Time has been bankrolled by AGS Entertainment.
